PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnet structure lock mechanism allowing the automatic locking of an opening and closing part of furniture or fitting with simple structure and further the adaptation of an antitheft measure more difficult than ever because others cannot know the position of a key. SOLUTION: In an opening and closing mechanism for furniture or fitting comprising a movable member such as drawers, sliding doors or doors and a fixed member such as receiving plates, guide pieces, partitioning plates, side plates, sill, or frame, a magnet piece 2 slid by the attracting force with an externally operated magnet 1 is mounted on the inside of the movable member, and the sliding magnet piece 2 comprises a locking piece 3, and an engagement part 4 to which the tip of the locking piece is inserted is provided on the fixed member such as side plate or partitioning plate opposed to the tip of the locking piece 3. According to this magnet structure lock mechanism, the magnetic piece 2 is slid by the externally operated magnet 1 to perform the engagement or separation of the locking piece 3 with and from the engagement part 4, whereby the furniture or fitting is locked or unlocked.
