PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing an olefin polymer having a wide molecular-weight distribution without accompanying the polymer adhesion to the wall of a polymerization reactor and also the cake formation. SOLUTION: The process for producing an olefin polymer comprises suspension polymerization of an olefin in which the polymerization of the olefin is carried out with the introduction of the olefin and the catalytic product of component (B): a metallocene compound, component (C): a clay mineral and component (D): an organoaluminium compound into a medium containing component (A): an organic alkaline earth metal compound.
