PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a melamine structural material made from a melamine resin as the raw material, based on a lightweight melamine foam, forming both moistureproof layer and formaldehyde-removing layer on both the inner and outer surfaces of the melamine foam to prevent structural deterioration due to hydrolysis, and enabling formaldehyde released from the melamine foam to be removed, and to provide a method for producing the melamine structural material. SOLUTION: This melamine structural material is made up of a base material 12 of melamine resin foam, a layer 14 coated on each of the inner and outer surfaces of the base material 12 and functioning to remove formaldehyde released from the melamine resin foam, and a moistureproof layer 16 coated on the above layer 14 and functioning to prevent absorption of moisture from the outside. Owing to both the layers 14 and 16, the formaldehyde released from the base material 12 can be removed and the hydrolysis of the base material 12 can be suppressed so as to prevent the mechanical strength of the melamine structural material from being deteriorated. |
