PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cover device suitable for a wheel spindle stock traverse type grinding machine. SOLUTION: In this grinding machine of such a type that a grinding wheel G is sequentially arranged on a wok W at a plurality of ground positions by traversing an intermediate base 10 in the longitudinal direction of the work W supported on a headstock 7 and a tailstock 8 at both ends, a telescopic cover 16 is installed on one side of a wheel spindle stock 11 movable forward and backward on the intermediate base 10 relative to the work W, and a bellows cover 17 is installed on the other side. The upper surface of a bed 2 is divided into two parts, i.e., a front space and a rear space, by these covers 16 and 17. Two faces of the headstock 7 facing a grinding area where the grinding wheel G grinds the work W are covered by the covers 23a and 23b, and two faces of the tailstock 8 facing the grinding area are covered by covers 24a and 24b. The front part of the wheel spindle stock 11 between the covers 23b and 24b is covered by an openable slide door 5.
