PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating nitrogen compound-containing water in one operation without leaving nitrate nitrogen or nitrite nitrogen in the treated water. SOLUTION: In the method for treating nitrogen compound-containing water in which the nitrogen compound-containing water (1) is brought into contact with a catalyst in the presence of an oxidizing agent, whereby the nitrogen compound is reacted with the oxidizing agent and subjected to oxidation decomposition (6), a reducing agent (7) is added during the oxidation decomposition.
