PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an AE sensor capable of freely controlling the effective number of picture elements in response to the processing capability of a CPU, and mounted on various types of machines as a general purpose component. SOLUTION: A line selection circuit 114 for selecting horizontal and vertical lines is provided on a prior AE sensor, and a line read to a later stage circuit is selected with the line selection circuit 114 to alter an effective picture element area, by applying temporal filtering to a SYNC pulse 113 for transmitting pulse timing of a photographing signal to the later stage circuit. The line selected is determined with an external input. When the line selection circuit is mounted on an instrument including a CPU having a lower processing function, the effective picture element is reduced to reduce the load on the CPU, while when the same is mounted on an instrument including a CPU having a higher processing capability, the effective picture element area is increased to effectively utilize the capability of the CPU for higher density control. |
