摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption without sacrificing the advantages of a conventional a.c. driving method. SOLUTION: In the matrix driving circuit, a plurality of row electrodes being extended in the horizontal direction of a screen is selectively made active for every horizontal scanning interval of an image to be displayed. A plurality of column electrodes being extended in the vertical direction of the screen is supplied with pixel voltages that reverse the polarity for every frame interval of the image in accordance with the image and correspond to the horizontal scanning interval. These pixel voltages are made to have spatially alternative polarities in the vertical direction in the screen of the frame interval and the pixels arranged in a matrix manner are a.c. driven. The circuit is provided with time sequential operating means (30 and 40) which the supply timings of the pixel voltage group corresponding to one row electrodes and the pixel voltage group corresponding to other row electrodes that are to have the same polarity of the group above are made continuous in a time sequential manner and row driving means (30 and 60) which make the corresponding row electrodes active in response to the supply timings of the one row electrodes and other row electrodes.
