PURPOSE: A position information system using a GIS application server is provided to integrate numerous GIS(Geographical Information System) application servers by converting geographical information into an XML format and providing it to a mobile communication terminal. CONSTITUTION: A terminal(100) provides position information of a base station to which the terminal belongs and receives geographical information in an XML format from a mobile communication system(200). The mobile communication system(200) processes the position information to a signal and transmits the signal to a map server(300), and transmits the geographical information in the XML format outputted from the map server(300) to the terminal(100). The map server(300) receives the signal from the mobile communication system(200), searches a GIS application server available for providing geographical information around the terminal(100) corresponding to the signal, receives the geographical information, converts the information into the XML format, and transmits it to the mobile communication system(200). A plurality of GIS application servers transmit geographical information in a type defined in an OGIS(Open GIS Interoperability Specification) standard interface to the map server(300). |
