A polycarbonate composition of excellent quality containing a polycarbonate reduced in foreign−particle content which has been obtained through filtration with a polymer filer having a small opening size and has not undergone molecular weight decrease, coloration, foreign−particle generation, etc. during the filtration. The composition comprises (A) a polycarbonate having a viscosity−average molecular weight of 10,000 or higher obtained through filtration in a molten state through a filter comprising a stack of disk filter elements each having an outer diameter of 15 inches (38.1 cm) or smaller, an inner diameter/outer diameter ratio of 1/7 or higher, and an opening size of 40 µm or smaller; and (B1) an inorganic filler and/or (B2) a thermoplastic resin other than polycarbonates.
