The tip (9) of a center electrode (1) is formed like a pyramid with a base diameter (d1). A ball (2) of noble metal with a specific diameter (d) is lodged on its face in a welding electrode (3), which is pressed onto the ball by liquefying the tip of the center electrode and by applying a defined welding force acting against it and defined welding parameters for liquefying the tip of the center electrode, the liquefied material of which flows partly round the ball. <??>After the liquefied material of the tip of the center electrode has solidified, the welding electrode is separated from the center electrode with the ball of noble metal that has been embedded. An Independent claim is also included for a spark plug produced by the method of the present invention. |
