PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control system that generates a control command by inputting a symbol in a touch sensitive input field. SOLUTION: This control system includes a context selection means that selects one from a plurality of different control contexts, and associates the selected control context with a limited effective symbol set 14, and a symbol interpreter 18 that can identify by comparing a symbol 20 inputted, on a surface 16 of the input field, by plotting a rough line with a fingertip with the line and an effective symbol set associated with the selected control context. A specific context is selected by a user, for instance, by scrolling a menu, by operating a key, a push button or the like, by voice control, or by inputting a symbol in the input field.
