The compensation element (1) is filled with oil before fitting. It consists of a casing (4), a compression piston (3) with a spring (16) and a hydraulic cavity (9). This cavity is filled with a hydraulic oil which has a very low viscosity at room temperature, or at least a viscosity which is significantly lower than that of the oil used in the engine.
