PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an impact resistance improver simply and with high industrial productivity and an impact resistant resin having good impact resistance and appearance and therefore a high commodity value by compounding the improver into a styrene resin or an acrylic resin. SOLUTION: In this method of producing an impact resistance improver, a radical-polymerizable monomer an aromatic vinyl monomer, a vinyl cyanate monomer, and an alkyl (meth)acrylate monomer} is emulsion polymerized in the presence of an organopolysiloxane latex which is prepared by emulsifying compounds having general formulae of R<1> Si(OR<2> )3 and (R<3> 2 SiO)m and/or R<4> O(R<5> 2 SiO)n R<4> and water (wherein R<1> , R<3> , and R<5> represent each a 1-10C non- substituted or substituted hydrocarbon group; R<2> , and R<4> represent each a hydrogen atom or a 1-4C hydrocarbon group, m represents an integer of 3-10, and n represents an integer of 2-200), then emulsion polymerizing them by using an acid catalyst, and has an average particle diameter in the range of 50-200 nm and a viscosity at 25 deg.C after extraction of not lower than 10,000 mPa.s.
