PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide method and device for controlling tension for coil winding capable of providing a stable tension value having high controllability even in variation of filament speed and winding by a non-circular coil. SOLUTION: The method of controlling tension for coil winding is a method of uniformly controlling a winding tension F to a set value in winding a filament W as a coil winding with a winder 2. In the method, the filament W is run through MR fluid Z of which viscosity is changed by a magnetic field applied by a magnet 3, the tension F of the filament W after passing through the MR fluid Z is detected by a tension/filament speed detector 7, the detected tension F value is compared with a tension value FO set in a controller 8, a control signal SC is supplied to a magnetic field generating device 9 so as to equalize the tension F value to the set tension value FO, current equivalent to it is fed to the magnet 3, the magnetic field applied to the MR fluid Z by the magnet 3 is changed to adjust the viscosity of the MR fluid Z, and the filament W is adjusted to the set tension FO. |
