A revolving door (1) is installed as an emergency exit from buildings or escape routes. The door revolves in an upright segmented (2, 3) drum with three upright leaves (6, 7, 8) sub-dividing the drum into three compartments with two access apertures (4, 5). The leaves revolve around a central pivot (D). One leaf (6) has a peripheral pivot point (S) and may be disengaged from the central pivot point (D), allowing the leaf to open in either direction, providing a direct passage between the two apertures (4, 5).
