PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which reduction in sticking force between a belt cleaner and residue toner is kept down in regard to image forming apparatuses such as a laser beam printer or a digital copying machine. SOLUTION: In the apparatus, wax (release agent) on the surface of a cleaning roll is eliminated and the sticking force between the residue toner remaining on an intermediate transfer body and the cleaning roll is increased.
