To set the operating parameters of a textile machine and/or the machine maintenance unit, dependent parameters are derived from a functional dependence from preset and/or accessed parameters. At least some of the derived parameters are displayed additionally, and where parameters are combined it can be established which parameters remain unchanged on an alteration and/or which of the parameters should be the derived parameter.
