PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the outflow of sludge in a state mixed with treated water by lowering the interface of sludge even if the interface of sludge rises at a high speed in a solid-liquid separation tank. SOLUTION: The solid-liquid separator has the solid-liquid separation tank 1 for separating inflow raw water into supernatant water and sludge, a rising speed detection means 10 for the interface of sludge grasping the rising speed of the interface of the supernatant water and sludge and a sludge interface adjusting means 20 for regulating the height of the interface of sludge. The sludge interface adjusting means is controlled on the basis of the interface rising speed of sludge grasped by the rising speed detection means for the interface of sludge.
