PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for killing Legionella genus bacteria coexisting with amoebas in an aqueous system by which Legionella genus bacteria coexistent with amoebas in the aqueous system can be killed and the bacteria can be prevented from growing by using a nonhalogen compound. SOLUTION: The method for killing Legionella genus bacteria coexisting with amoebas in an aqueous system is carried out by adding maleimides to the aqueous system in which amoebas and Legionella genus bacteria coexist.
