PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the filtering efficiency of a filter element to which a filter aid is bonded and to reduce the consumption amount of the filter aid. SOLUTION: The wastewater treatment apparatus is equipped with a filter device 23 having a plurality of filter elements 27 to which the filter aid is bonded, a wastewater supply means 22 for supplying wastewater having a solid component suspended therein to the filter device 23, a solid discharge means 31 for peeling the solid component bonded to the filter elements 27 along with the filter aid to discharge the same from the filter device 23, a recovery means 35 for separating at least a part of the solid component with a particle size capable of being caught by the filter elements 27 and the filter aid from the discharged aqueous suspention to recover them and a circulating means 37 for supplying the recovered solid component and the recovered filter aid to the wastewater supply means 22 to circulate them.
