PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ion optical system of a time-of-flight type mass spectroscope having converging capability in the axial direction of cylindrical electric fields, easy to adjust its incident angle and of capable of surely circulating ions by a predetermined number of times. SOLUTION: The cylindrical electric fields E1 -E6 having a rotation angle of 60 deg., the same shape and the same intensity are formed in spaces between inner electrodes 1-6 and outer electrodes 1'-6' of concentric cylindrical electrodes. Between the electric fields E1 and E6 , a deflection electric field E0 for entering sample ions generated by an ion source toward an ion track is disposed. Between the electric fields E1 and E6 , a deflection electric field E7 for extracting the sample ions having flown on the ion track to the outside is disposed. Between the electric fields E3 and E4 , deflection electric fields Ei and Ei ' for shifting the ion track in parallel with the axial direction of the cylindrical electric fields are disposed. The ions are entered into the electric field E1 in parallel with a plane perpendicular to the axis center 0. The ion track is moved downward at every circling by the electric fields Ei and Ei '.
