PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce stored picture data much more and to smoothly reproduce a moving picture. SOLUTION: A reproduction program 192 reproduces the moving picture based on picture data supplied by a stream. A buffer 191 stores picture data which are supplied by the stream and are to be reproduced. A reproduction monitoring program 193 obtains the amount of picture data stored in the buffer 191 at every prescribed period. The reproduction monitoring program 193 causes the reproduction program 192 to reproduce data at a speed faster than a regular reproduction speed when the amount of obtained picture data exceeds a first threshold. When the amount of obtained picture data is under a second threshold, the reproduction program 192 is caused to reproduce data at the regular reproduction speed.
