PURPOSE: A method of managing traffic resources in a mobile communication system is provided to dynamically assign traffic resources according to data amount while performing a high speed data service, thereby preventing consumption of the traffic resources. CONSTITUTION: A base station sets a call(S1), and transceives data with a mobile terminal(S2). The base station decides whether the amount of transceiving data exceeds the amount transceived through presently assigned FDBs(Fundamental Data Blocks)(S3). If so, the base station determines the number of assigned SDBs(Supplemental Data Blocks), and assigns the SDBs as determined(S4). The base station transceives data with the mobile terminal(S5). The base station decides whether the amount of transceiving data is smaller than the determined amount by SDBs(S6). If so, the base station decides whether a timer is set(S7). If not, the base station determines the number of cancelled SDBs(S8), and confirms whether the cancelled SDBs exist(S9). If so, the base station sets a timer, stores the number of the cancelled SDBs(S10), and transceives data with the mobile terminal through the FDBs and the SDBs(S5).
