A device for the precise and automatic closing of collapsible box lids comprises moving belts (8,9) for boxes and lids, position sensors (1,2), a process controller, positioning drives (4,5,6) and a motor governing the drive speed with respect to the moving belts. A device for the precise automatic closing of collapsible box lids comprises moving under- (9) and over- (8) belts for boxes (10) and lids (11) respectively and a lid converter (7). A positioning device comprises sensors (1,2) determining the position of box and lid, a process controller, a drive (4,5,6) to correctly position lid and box and a motor which governs the correct drive speed with respect to the moving belt.
