The invention relates to a supporting roller for an open conveyor belt and the use thereof. The inventive supporting roller comprises a cylindrical frame, two bearings and at least one rotation shaft. Said cylindrical frame is made from reinforced plastic, preferably with good anti-electrostatic properties, and advantageously from glass-fibre-reinforced polypropylene. The aforementioned bearing is made from a thermoplastic material with the addition of a solid lubricant, such as molybdenum disulphide, preferably of between 30 wt.- % and 70 wt.- %. Advantageously, the cylindrical frame is provided with an external surface having a low coefficient of friction and/or high wear resistance. The rotation shaft can be covered with hard chromium or boron nitride and the cylindrical frame can be filled with a filling material. The inventive roller is preferably used in harbour installations, quarries and mines and/or in the food sector. |
