PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-speed photographing device which enables the observation of the minute motion of a minute object. SOLUTION: An image pickup part 4 to carry out photographing at high speed is provided for the purpose of observing a specimen M which is the minute object such as a cell, microorganism, nerve or an insect by using an optical microscope 2. In monitoring, an illuminating part 3 intermittently irradiates the specimen M, the object, with light while synchronizing with a control signal outputted from a synchronizing circuit 7. In photographing, the illuminating part 3 irradiates the specimen M with the light while synchronizing with the control signal only when really carrying out the photographing, and a photographed image is outputted to a monitor 6 through an imaging element 4 and an image processing part 5.
