PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glitter coating composition which can sore coating steps and can reveal a nonplanar glitter brightness with an interfering action, to provide a method for forming a coating film, and a coated article. SOLUTION: This coating composition contains a vehicle and two or more interfering glitter pigments, wherein one of the glitter pigments comprises (a) interfering glitter pigments having a mean particle diameter of 5-10μm, and one of others comprises (b) interfering glittery pigments different from the pigment (a) and having a mean particle diameter of 10-30μm, with the mass content ratio of the pigment (b) to the pigment (a) being (1:100) to (1:40), provided that (c) the glitter pigments satisfy the relation of formula: [the mean particle diameter of the interfering glittery pigment (b)]-[the mean particle diameter of the interfering glittery pigment (a)]=10 to 25μm.
