PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuously variable transmission that suppresses partial contact between a tension roller and a belt by suppressing inclination of a rotary shaft of the tension roller, and prevents interference between the tension roller and a pulley. SOLUTION: A transmission ratio varying mechanism wraps the belt 15 between the pulleys and varies groove widths of both pulleys independently, and a tensioner device presses the belt 15 to create belt tension. The tensioner device comprises the tension roller 51 brought in external pressure contact with the belt 15, a tensioner arm 53 supporting the roller 51, and a tension spring 54 for urging the tensioner arm 53 to turn in a direction to cause the tension roller to press the belt. The tensioner arm 53 is loner than the diameter of the driving pulley 11, is curved along an outer circumference of the driving pulley 11, and is arranged so that a turning locus of a tension roller mounting portion about a supporting point of turning of the tensioner arm 53 passes between a driveshaft 10 and a driven shaft 20.
