PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a joint gasket installation structure and a gasket retainer allowing easy installation to a circumferential groove of a block. SOLUTION: This gasket retainer 10 retains a joint gasket 16 and a guide ring 17 positioned in the block 101 formed with the circumferential groove 101a in the periphery of a flow passage hole. The gasket retainer 10 has gasket retention claws 13 disposed in three equiangular positions to press and retain a small diameter part 16a of a step difference formed in the periphery of the joint gasket 16; flange installation claws 12 disposed in three equiangular positions to press the inner-side inner face of the circumferential groove 101a; and guide ring retention claws 14 disposed in three equiangular positions to press the inner face of the gasket ring 17.
