发明名称 Gasification of solid carbonaceous fuels
摘要 879,275. Gasefying solid carbonaceous fuels. INLAND STEEL CO. July 1, 1959 [July 8, 1958], No. 22572/59. Class 44 (1). Solid carbonaceous fuels in particulate form are gasified by forming at least two streams of the fuel in an oxygen-rich gas, one stream containing sufficient oxygen to effect complete combustion of a substantial part of the carbon in its fuel to carbon di-oxide with a high flame temperature and the other, or at least one other, stream containing only sufficient oxygen to effect incomplete combustion of part of the carbon in its fuel to carbon monoxide with a lower flame temperature, the two streams of fuel and oxygen-rich gas being introduced at spaced points into a combustion zone maintained at substantially atmospheric pressure so that the streams intermix in turbulent flow and react to produce a gas containing carbonmonoxide and hydrogen and less than 10% and preferably less than 5% carbon di-oxide. The oxygen-rich gas may be free oxygen or a gas containing at least 85% oxygen and the flame temperature of the two streams may be between 3200‹ and 4200‹ F. and between 2700‹ and 3000‹ F. In the higher temperature stream about 35-85% by weight of the carbon is combusted to carbon di-oxide while in the lower temperature stream about 65-85% of the carbon is converted to carbon monoxide. The solid carbonaceous material may be coal, lignite, peat, coke or oil-bearing shale. In the apparatus shown in Fig. 1 the fuel/ oxygen-rich gas mixtures are introduced as two diametrically opposed streams. Steam may be added through a line 19 and slag and product gas are withdrawn through lines 18 and 16 respectively. The streams may be introduced through a series of nozzles, e.g. of 6, 10 or 14 nozzles, arranged in opposed pairs or through a pair of nozzles arranged at rightangles to each other.
