An aiming block (100) located outside the boat (20) during transhipment can be moved between a transport position on board the boat and a working position on the wharf (10). A derrick (30) mounted on the boat is provided with a crane control system (40). A sensor system (110) is used to detect the position of the derrick relative to the aiming block during transhipment and can communicate with the crane control system in order to steer the derrick in response to sensor system signals. Independent claims are also included for (a) the boat, (b) the aiming block and (c) a boat loading/unloading method, in which an aiming block carried on board a boat is placed on the wharf, a derrick on board the boat is used to lift a pallet out of the hold in the direction of the aiming block, the position of the pallet relative to the aiming block is measured, the derrick is steered according to this position and the pallet is placed in the aiming block.
