PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power converter capable of detecting which semiconductor switching device, among power conversion semiconductor switching devices constituting the power converter, indicates a sign of a failure. SOLUTION: This power converter using the power conversion semiconductor switching device (1) as a main circuit element comprises a leakage current detecting means (9) for detecting a gate leakage current of the semiconductor switching devices (1); and device failure detecting means (52, 53) for outputting a device failure detection signal indicating a sign of the failure when the magnitude of the leakage current changes in excess of a fixed value, based on the leakage current at the time of starting the use of the device. |
