PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for carrying out extending of a food dough by installing at least a pair of opposite extending rollers. SOLUTION: This method for extending the food dough 9 comprises carrying out the extending of the food dough 9 by passing the food dough 9 between a plurality of extending rollers 11 and 13 opposite in the vertical directions or the horizontal direction. In the method for extending the food dough 9, at least the one extending roller 13 opposite in the vertical directions or horizontal direction is vibrated in the direction to approach and separate from the other extending roller 11 to thereby carry out the extending actions on the food dough 9. The apparatus for extending the food dough 9 is designed to pass the food dough 9 between the plurality of extending rollers 11 and 13 opposite in the vertical directions and horizontal direction and thereby carry out the extending of the food dough 9. In the apparatus, a vibration generating means for vibrating at least the one extending roller 13 opposite in the vertical directions or horizontal direction in the direction to approach and separate from the other extending roller 11 is installed.
