MULTILAYER MULTIPLEX FOR GENERATING MPEG2 TRANSFER STREAM FROM BASIC MPEG2 AND MPEG4 STREAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an advantageous transfer means of an output stream having a multiplex, given output rate, and a basic stream having a basic rate. SOLUTION: A transmitter comprises a multilayer multiplex apparatus for generating an output stream having a multiplex output rate from a basic input stream having a basic rate. The multilayer multiplex apparatus comprises at least a first master multiplexer and a second slave multiplexer regarding the first master multiplexer. The master multiplexer receives at least a first basic stream in first input, and at least a multiplex stream in second input that is supplied to the output of the slave multiplexer from at least the second basic input stream. The master multiplexer has a means for controlling the output rate, and guarantees the specific minimum average output rate as a function of the basic rate.
