PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an immunoassay method, capable of reducing non-specific color development and background color development and highly sensitively detecting a substance to be detected in an enzyme immune chromatography. SOLUTION: A complex formed of both a labeling complex, formed by immobilizing a second specific combining substance, capable of specifically combining with the substance to be detected and an enzyme to a carrier and the substance to be detected is captured in an immobilizing phase formed by immobilizing a first specific combining substance, capable of specifically combining with the substance to be detected, and the substance to be detected is detected by detecting a reaction product of a substrate of the enzyme produced by the enzyme contained in the complex, in enzyme immune chromatography. An enzymatic reaction inhibitor is developed with the labeling complex, or developed, after the labeling complex is developed, and the substrate of the enzyme is developed, after the enzymatic reaction inhibitor is developed in the immunoassay method.
