PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plate holding member capable of mounting a plate such as glass or the like on an opening section of a structure, making full use of an inside space at the maximum in accordance with various uses and widening an area in possession of the plate in the opening section without leaving any exposed surface of a frame member resulting in the accumulation of dust on an indoor side. SOLUTION: The plate holding member is so constituted that locking pieces 6a and 6b on the lower surface of a female member 4 are inserted in a locking groove 2b of the frame member 2 to lock, a holding section 8 of the female member 4 is formed in a site extended from the upper parts of the locking pieces, the end face of the plate 3 is held on the upper surface of a holding section 9 projectively formed in the basic end of the holding section 8 of the female member 4, at the same time, both sides of the plate 3 are held between the holding section 8 of the female member 4 and a male member 5, an insertion section 11 projectively formed from the basic end of a holding section 12 of the male member 5 is inserted and locked between a step-like engaging section 10 formed in the lower part of the holding section 9 of the female member 4 and a frame face 2a of the frame member 2 and that a position for forming the holding section 8 of the female member 4 is adjusted in advance so as to enable the outside 15 of the male member 5 to be approximately arranged with the side 16 of the frame member 2 under such a state.
