PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately display map information without making vehicle passengers feel uneasy by making a displaying means sequentially display map information corresponding to map data with a high priority among pieces of map data to be a display target. SOLUTION: A map information display device 10 transmits to a map data distribution server 2 a map data distribution request and position information showing where a self-vehicle currently is. The map data distribution server 2 selects a series of map data to be a display target on the basis of the position information transmitted from the map information display device 10, and performs hierarchical classification of the series of map data into a plurality of hierarchies in accordance with a priority. The map data subjected to hierarchical classification are distributed to the map information display device 10 in the order of data with a high priority. The map information display device 10 sequentially and overlappingly displays map information corresponding to the map data on a displaying part 16 in the order of a high priority.
