<p>Into a synthetic material with fire-retardant properties is processed a silicate compound which forms foam at increased temperature. An insulating material is formed herefrom in a foamed, form-retaining state. This insulating material particularly comprises mutually cohesive cores (11) which are at least largely enclosed with a layer (12) which contains a silicate compound and which forms foam at increased temperature. In order to make a synthetic material fire-retardant an additive is added thereto comprising a silicate compound which forms foam at increased temperature.</p> |
