The press blanket, to carry a wet web through a press station at a machine for the production of paper or cardboard or tissue, has at least one layer of high tensile and pull-resistant reinforcement filaments (1) in the peripheral direction. The press blanket has a greater resistance to pull forces longitudinally than laterally. The reinforcement filaments are distributed evenly across the blanket width. The reinforcements are mono- or multifilaments of metal, plastics reinforced with glass or carbon fibers, and the like.
