BURDOIN TUBING IN DEGASSING AND PULSATION DAMPENER APPLICATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for simultaneously degassing a mobile phase and dampening a flow pulsation using one or more semi-permeable tubes. SOLUTION: The fluid-dampening and degassing apparatus for passing and transporting a fluid for liquid chromatography is provided with a substantially burdoin-shaped flexible tube arranged in a reduced-pressure chamber. The tube has sufficient flexibility to expand in the cross-sectional direction upon the incursion of a fluid pulsation to thereby increase an inner volume of the tube and correspondingly to reduce the fluid pressure therein. In a particular embodiment, the tube is fabricated by a gas permeable and liquid impermeable material to degas the fluid transported in the reduced-pressure chamber.
