PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface coated cemented carbide cutting tool whose wear resistance coating layer exhibits superior heat resisting plastic deformation. SOLUTION: The wear resistance coating layer is constituted by a bed tough layer having an average layer thickness of 0.1 to 10μm, which is formed by a monolayer of one type selected from a carbide layer of Ti, a nitride layer and a carbonitride layer or a multiplayer of two types of the same, a lower hard layer having an average layer thickness of 0.1 to 15μm, which is formed by a monolayer of a composite nitride layer of Ti and Al or a composite carbonitride layer of Ti and Al or a multiplayer of both of them, and intermediate heat resisting layer having an average layer thickness of 0.1 to 10μm, which is formed by a monolayer of a composite carboxide layer of Ti and Al or a composite carbonitroxide layer or multiplayer of both of them, an upper hard layer having an average layer thickness of 0.1 to 15μm, which is formed by an aluminum oxide layer, and a surface radiating layer having an average layer thickness of 0.5 to 15μm, which is formed by an aluminum nitride layer. The thus formed wear resistance coating layer is physically evaporated on the surface of a tungsten carbide base cemented carbide or titanium carbonitride base thermet tool base.
