METHOD FOR PRODUCING POLYELECTROLYTE COMPOSITE MEMBRANE AND FUEL CELL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polyelectrolyte composite membrane by which the polyelectrolyte composite membrane holding physical properties essential to a porous membrane and exhibiting proton conductivity nearly equal to that of a single polyelectrolyte membrane can be produced without using a surfactant or other polymers. SOLUTION: This method for producing the polyelectrolyte composite membrane comprises filling a polyelectrolyte in voids of a porous membrane substrate. The method comprises (i) filling a part in the voids of the porous membrane substrate with a solution of the polyelectrolyte having <90 deg. contact angle with the porous membrane substrate and then (ii) filling the residual voids in the porous membrane substrate with a solution of the polyelectrolyte having >=90 deg. contact angle with the porous membrane substrate.
