PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing metal fine particles having a desired particle diameter superior in dispersibility of the components, without generating a deleterious gas such as hydrogen chloride, nitric acid, or sulfuric acid. SOLUTION: The objective method for manufacturing the metal fine particles or the metal composite fine particles, which contain one or more metals or metallic oxides, includes (a) a step of manufacturing a metal-containing solution of containing metal ions of the desired metals, (b) a step of reacting the above metal-containing solution, with an organic solvent containing an extractant having reactivity with the above metal ions, to prepare an extracting solvent, (c) a step of spraying the above extracting solvent into a heated atmosphere to cause a thermal cracking reaction, and (d) a step of collecting the generated fine particles.
