The friction-enhancing washer (10) is placed between a steel component (16), e.g. a rail, and a concrete or brick wall (18), to which it is fastened by a bolt (20). It has granules (14) of corundum, quartz, carbide, nitride, diamond or tungsten carbide embedded in a binder on both its surfaces.
