<p>The invention is a compact optical gyroscope (1) based on the Sagnac effect that combines a micro-ring cavity laser (1, 1a, 1b) comprising a magneto-optical material (1b) and a magnetic field (B)to circumvent the lock-in phenomenon at low rates of rotation. The invention also embodies novel processes for breaking lock-in using a transverse Faraday effect.</p> |
