The invention relates to a method for applying the main insulation (4) of conductor bars (2), particularly conductor rods (2) provided for stator windings, whereby the conductor bars (2) have a rectangular cross-section. The method involves the following steps: connecting the individual connector bars (2) to a quasi-endless connector bar having a rectangular cross-section; sheathing the quasi-continuous rectangular connector bar (2) with a main insulation (4), and; detaching or removing the non-useable connecting points (6).
