<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium having excellent dispersibility, smoothness of coating films, electromagnetic conversion characteristics and long-term storage property. SOLUTION: The magnetic recording medium has a lower layer prepared by dispersing nonmagnetic powder or ferromagnetic powder with a binder on a supporting body and has at least one magnetic layer prepared by dispersing ferromagnetic powder with the binder on the lower layer. In the medium, the binder contains a polyurethane resin prepared from polyester polyols containing specified diols, a chain growth agent and organic diisocyanate. The peak ratio of C/Fe on the surface of the magnetic layer ranges from 7 to 11.</p> |
