The pneumatic tyre of height (H) has carcass reinforcement (1) formed by at least one layer (1A) of radial reinforcing elements which are not turned round the bead wires (2), and a separate layer (1B) of reinforcing elements that is inclined relative to the circumferential direction of the tyre and passed round the bead to form two layers (1BI, 1BE). The pneumatic tyre of height (H) has carcass reinforcement (1) formed by at least one layer (1A) of radial reinforcing elements which are not turned round the bead wires (2), and a separate layer (1B) of reinforcing elements that is inclined relative to the circumferential direction of the tyre and passed round the bead to form two layers (1BI, 1BE). The carcass reinforcement is covered radially by a crown reinforcement (3) in at least two crossing layers (31, 32) running at between 15 and 30 deg to the circumferential direction. The sidewall and bead reinforcing layer (1B) comprise textile elements inclined relative to the circumferential direction at an angle of 40 - 70 deg , and upper edges situated at a distance of 0.2H to 0.7H above the base of the beads. The radial carcass reinforcing elements are also of textile cables, while those of the crown are made of metal.
