PURPOSE: A washing machine and a method for guiding fees relating to the use of the washing machine are provided to display fees or power/water consumption by self-calculation on the basis of updated tax rates, thereby promoting the save of electricity and the water. CONSTITUTION: A washing machine includes a load part(140) including a motor for driving inner and outer tubs and a pulsator, and water supplying and draining valves, a key input part(100) for inputting instructions of a user, a readable/writable storing part(160) for storing washing machine operation algorithm and fee-guiding programs, a display part(150) for displaying functions and operation states of the washing machine and fee-guiding messages requested by the user, an interface(120) for transmitting revised fee-reference information via data communication with an external unit, and a system microcomputer(170) for controlling the load part and the display part and downloading the revised information via the interface.
