The objective of the present invention is to provide a peak suppression method and circuit which achieve optimal peak suppression without generating insufficient suppression or excessive suppression even if an input signal exceeding a threshold is continuous over a long period of time. This peak suppression apparatus (10) is provided with: a subtracting unit (11) which subtracts a threshold from an amplitude value of an input signal to generate a first peak signal; a multiplying unit (12) which multiplies a weight coefficient by the first peak signal to generate a second peak signal; a band-limiting filter (13) which performs band limitation, using a filter, on the second peak signal to generate a third peak signal; a subtracting unit (14) which subtracts the third peak signal from the input signal; and a weight coefficient generation unit (15) which generates a weight coefficient on the basis of a value obtained by dividing the amplitude value of the first peak signal by an amplitude value of a fourth peak signal, which is generated when convolution is performed using at least a tap coefficient that is used in the center tap of the band-limiting filter (13). |
